You get used to living like this.
Focus on the present, but keep one eye on the horizon.
Mostly you need to be flexible.
Like Mike Tyson said, everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.
I was on my way to Las Cruces when the van started making noise.
Just the latest chapter in a slide that started a long time before.
I have given a lot of thought to when things started going this way.
Notice I don’t say going wrong.
That would be presumptuous, even disrespectful.
Nobody knows yet how it all turns out.

A born philosopher!
Indeed! Road wisdom
Wise words well said.
Flexibility is key, I say! Because he is right. No one knows.
You’ve got to love an optimist.
I love how you’ve written this! My favorite so far!
thanks!
Great story. A metaphor for living a life.
Ive never heard that Mike Tyson quote, but then I don’t really like him so why would I? Funny quote mind! Good piece too
Dear Josh,
Today it’s raining in Las Cruces. Just thought you’d want to know. ;) And blessed are the flexible for they shall not be bent out of shape. Semper Gumby. Good story.

PS I always liked Gladys Kravitz. ;)
Wonderful voice. I like his attitude.
I like the attitude that no one knows the ultimate outcome, which may not be bad at all :)
Good story, perhaps you mean in the first line: “You get used to living like this.” ?
That here sure is a truth! We never know where things are taking us, do we?
