Killing With Kindness

Carrie realized as she walked in that she was forty-five minutes early, but she knew if she went back out to her car she might not go through with it, might let things continue as they had, avoid the confrontation altogether. Her mother had always said that Carrie took politeness too far. Actually, what she said was that Carrie took politeness to the point of masochism. “Killing with kindness shouldn’t mean suicide,” her mother told her.

Carrie watched out the window. The envelope of photographs from the detective agency was in her purse. She still could leave it there.

There’s a lot of tension in your story. Will she act or will she back off? You’ve told so much about her character and her situation in so few words. Well written.
